Youth Kickboxing

Our Youth Kickboxing program is for kids ages 5 -12 . We teach a blend of Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Boxing to form a single, solid kickboxing program.

Students participate in a structured, interactive program that includes a 15-minute warmup that is designed to increase strength, stamina, coordination, and focus.  After the warm-up, the instructors will demonstrate 2-3 combinations that students drill using Thai pads and heavy bags. Next, students are paired to train technique while having their partner block and counter. While partner work is being done Coach Cody will work one on one with students, for rounds, to work on techniques. At the end of each class, we finish with stretches and an overview of what was learned in class.  Students are regularly tested to make sure they are progressing and retaining knowledge.

As students progress in their knowledge and confidence in the sport, we introduce them to controlled, technical sparring.  These controlled sparring sessions are a lot of fun and provide the foundation for students that choose to compete.

The focus of our Youth Kickboxing program is to ensure that your child will build the skills (fitness, discipline, balance, leadership, responsibility, respect, and humility) to achieve personal growth and success.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program is for ages 13 and up. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) teaches you how to defend yourself against a larger, stronger attacker, or opponent by using leverage.  Leverage is BJJ’s most important principle, and it’s the foundation of our teaching.  By learning the principle of leverage, you will have the advantage and confidence in any self-defense situation.

Marandola Martial Arts offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gi classes, and No-Gi Grappling classes.  Classes are available for ages 13 & up, for all fitness levels, body types and skill levels.

Whether your goal is to get fit, learn self-defense, start a new hobby, train for the fun of it, or to compete in tournaments – we have a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program for you!

MMA/Muay Thai

Our Mixed Martial Arts and  Muay Thai Program is for ages 13 and up. Muay Thai Kickboxing, also known as Thai Boxing or The Art of the Eight Limbs has become the main “Striking” Art the athletes in the UFC practice. Muay Thai is referred to as "The Science of Eight Limbs", as the hands, shins, elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. While partner work is being done Coach Cody will work one on one with students, for rounds, to work on techniques they can practice while not doing one on one time with Coach Cody. As students progress in their knowledge and confidence in the sport, we introduce them to controlled, technical sparring.  These controlled sparring sessions are a lot of fun and provide the foundation for students that choose to compete.

We also allow you to drop into the dojo for the MMA/Muay Thai class and not participate in the structured program. You may bring your own pads and equipment and a partner to work on your own techniques you may have learned from other dojos.  We always encourage cross-training and visiting other dojos to train with people you have never trained with before to help you stay alert and take you out of your comfort zone from your regular training program to grow! This is why cross training is so beneficial.

Self Defense

Self defense classes teach specific strategies and routines that are effectively combatting the kinds of threats you’re likely to encounter, like muggings, assault or sexual assault. Unlike martial arts classes it’s not a sport, so the focus at first is not so much on perfecting technique as being able to react.Aside from set moves to break out of a grip or immobilize an attacker, you’ll learn how to avoid getting to the point of having to defend yourself. Some of the skills that might be covered are:

  • How to position yourself when being attacked

  • Different kinds of strikes

  • How and where to strike back

  • Blocks

  • How to break free of a hold or choke

  • Awareness of your surroundings

  • How to spot a threat

  • Preventative behaviors

  • Negotiation tactics

  • How to keep calm in the event of an attack

  • We also offer teaching you how to defend yourself against multiple attackers or an armed attacker, and how to handle weapons yourself.
